About
Glória Alhinho has been working in cross-disciplinary and cross-faculty relationships in Portugal, France, French Guiana, and the United States. Currently the Camões Institute Lecturer at Georgetown University she curates cultural events, allying academic research with artistic encounters. These projects, built across distinct academic and diplomatic institutions, stimulate transnational dialogue across the Portuguese Speaking World.
At the Embassy of Portugal, she serves as the pedagogical advisor for the Portuguese Language and the Coordinator for the International Portuguese Language exams. At Georgetown University she designed and created multiple spaces for in depth communication among a plurality of cultures: Breaking Boundaries in Portuguese, Conversations in Portuguese on Sound & Image, and A Time for Tea. She has been developing collaborative projects with universities in Africa, particularly Mozambique and the role of artists as leaders for democracy through cultural diplomacy.
Glória Alhinho holds a PhD in Iberian, Latin American, Mediterranean Studies, from the University of Bordeaux, France, and a Master of Arts in Environmental Psychology, University Institute of Psychology, Social and Life Sciences, Portugal, University of Surrey, England. Her academic research is deeply rooted in a humanistic stance through both a local and global vision. She explores literature and language as an inhabited, living and multidimensional spaces through her writing, photography, publications and research projects. She is interested in the diverse expressions of the continuum of life and how they can be integrated into our existence.
